How does life coaching work?
Life Coaching sessions are typically conducted phone (called
"telecoaching") or in person. Personally, I find
telecoaching to be very effective. Why? My goal as a life
coach is to focus on my client and I can do this very easily
when I am concentrating on reading and listening to what my
clients say and don't say, or say very quickly/slowly. Also,
telecoaching usually is most cost-effective and convenient
for my clients, particularly since it can be conducted in
the comfort of their own environment. In rare circumstances,
coaching goals may actually require face-to-face contact
(i.e., on-site corporate coaching, public speaking coaching,
body language coaching).

Life Coaching v Counseling
Counseling, or therapy, often looks to the past and/or current
emotional issues in order to discover, heal and understand.
Life Coaching, on the other hand, focuses on perfecting the
present and looks to the future in order to make a good life
even better. Life Coaching is action-oriented and the
starting point is the client's desire for personal and
professional success. Life Coaching focuses on forwarding
all aspects of the client's life to extraordinary. Life
Coaching is not about how you came to be who you are; it's
about getting you from where you are now to a future that
you want. Like a good therapist, good life coaches
bring skills, integrity and truthfulness to the process of
supporting the client's progress towards his/her own
objectives. Maximum Change does offer
Pastoral Counseling Services. Therapy is designed to help you deal with your past
and get closure with family issues or negative life
experiences.

Life Coaching v Consulting
A consultant is an expert who
dispenses advice and has answers. The consultant holds the
agenda, imparts knowledge and offers suggestions to improve
effectiveness and increase success. Life Coaching sees the
client as creative, capable, intelligent, and having answers
within themselves or the resources to find them. Life
Coaches act on the premise that the definitive expert
regarding your life and work is you.

Is Life Coaching
for me?
Serious athletes,
actors and politicians have understood the value of being
coached in order to achieve their highest potential. These
professionals would never "go it alone" without a coach, so
why should you? As a leader or couple in leadership, you
deserve your own coach too! If you could have achieved your
desired life without a coach - you would already have done
it!
Life Coaching can be of
tremendous value for everyone. Most people would rate their
lives at about a 7 out of 10 and settle for that. If you are
ready to do what it takes to achieve what you want and start
living at a 9, 10 or even 11, then coaching is for you.

to:
-
Achieve ambitious goals
faster and build creative momentum
-
Balance work and personal
priorities to enjoy a fuller, integrated life
-
Manage career, job or life
transitions more successfully
Anyone can benefit from life coaching. The "when" relates to
when the client is ready to take action and accept the
responsibility to grow.

If you are considering hiring
a life coach, you should be deciding if you are ready to
grow, stretch, and change. Life Coaching is not for
everyone, and even those who are considered highly coachable
have moments in their lives where life coaching is not
necessarily what they want or need. The following are
a couple of important questions to ask yourself before
making your decision.
If you feel you are ready to
make important changes in your life, the time might be right
for you. If, however you are very busy and cannot
imagine taking on one more thing, then you very well might
need a life coach. You would want to explore how to
remove things from your schedule so that your life may feel
simpler and manageable.
You should look carefully at
your finances before you decide to enter into a coaching
relationship. In hiring a life coach, you are making an
important investment in yourself and your life. This
investment ranks up there with the overall impact of an
advanced college degree or even possibly more. You
should ask yourself now if you are able to pay the coach’s
fee for a minimum of six months without feeling like you are
overextending yourself. If not, you may still want to
continue and work with your coach on improving your
financial situation immediately.
As a result of your life
coaching, you will be presented with old situations and
asked to view them in new ways. You will become introduced
to new concepts and differing approaches to situations. If
you are willing to try out new possibilities and stretch
your creative side, then you will be a greater return from
your investment. If you are the type of person who defends
your old perspectives, you will get much more value from
committing to a specific course of action.
There are numerous kinds of
professional relationships in which you can pursue, one or
more of which may be more appropriate to your specific
needs. Do you need a financial planner, attorney,
accountant, personal assistant? Your life coach can support
you to find the right resources at the right time if you do.
It is important to know that there may be additional
expenses for professional services your coach is not
qualified to provide for you. If you are experiencing
chronic mental suffering or you are dwelling extensively on
past events, you probably will want to talk to a therapist
instead of or even in addition to your coach. The idea
is to build the kind of relationship that you really want
and need.
Once you have answer the four
questions above, please complete the Coachability Assessment
Index and return to the coach prior to your first meeting.
