It’s all
about choices….
By Philip
A. Foster, MA
I’ve been
giving a lot of thought to the statement
that “it is all about choices.” What does
that really mean? It recently occurred to me
that one of the hardest things about life is
the free will we have to do what ever we
want. Every day we make hundreds, if not
thousands, of choices. We choose to get up
or hit the snooze button just one more time.
We choose coffee over tea, muffins over
biscuits. We choose to work for the wage we
make and drive the car we drive. You get the
picture…
We are bombarded with choices nearly every
waking second of our lives. From
advertisements on the roads, internet,
radio, television and now our telephones…
every where we are asked to make choices. A
recent search on Google.com for the word
choice revealed 491,000,000
occurrences.
Did you realize that we have the power to be
happy or sad, mad or indifferent? We make
choices everyday that affect what we believe
about ourselves and our ability to succeed
in life. If you ask 100 people how much they
are worth – you would find that most of them
“believe” that they are worth exactly what
they get paid each year. What is more
stunning is that they believe that they will
never make more than what they are worth.
We get out of life exactly what we expect
from it. Your life will be exactly as you
see it. Everything that happens to you in
your life is a direct result of your
thoughts. That means you have the choice to
live the life you want. If you believe you
are destine to live in a mediocre house and
drive mediocre car then guess what – you are
right! If you want to change your life you
need to start with the thoughts you have.
Some call this stinking thinking, some call
it thinking small. What ever it is – this
one thing is true – what ever you tell
yourself is true about your life and who you
are is what your subconscious will believe.
Do you want to start changing your life
today? If so, then start with these key
things.
1). Sit
down and write a list of the goals you would
like to achieve – be very specific.
2). Set a
time frame by which you would like to
achieve each goal.
3).
Repeat to yourself as many times a day as
possible (50 to 100 to start).
Every day in
every way I am getting better and better. Or
I am a winner and a Success and I will
achieve what ever I set out to do. Anything
like this that is motivational.
4).
